For many of us, cycling is a perfect exercise for many reasons. It is one of the most effective ways to burn fat and loose weight from all over your body, whilst it also tones your core muscles and of course arms and legs too.
Non weight bearing can also be a good way for those with lower limb joint issues to get into some exercise with less stress over your joints
Cycling for exercise improves your heart health, as it is essential an aerobic exercise. By increasing the oxygen level in your blood, and improving your blood vessels and lungs strength too, it really is a wonderful regular health boost.
Here at Abbey View Physiotherapy we are set up to get you started with cycling with less chance of stress to your joints or injuries.
We use the watt bike during 1:1 PT sessions, during circuits and if needed during bike fits if you wanted to have a go and test getting your heart rate up within a safe environment
We are also set up to help get you into the best position for longer on the bike with more comfort and to make you more efficient – check out our Bike Fit page for more information
Whatever your ability, keeping your body pumping the blood around and oxygenating more tissues can help you stay fitter for longer so including some cycling in your weekly routine can be life prolonging!
